The armed individuals placed a gun in the victim's mouth and hit him with a pipe as they threatened him to hand over his money.
Checks were also stolen.
There is speculation that the victim had been watched as he was out socializing the previous night.
The suspects have been described as two black males and another who may have been Hispanic.
They were all medium sized and of a normal build, wearing dark colored clothing and masks.
