Coming up: EcoFest rescheduled for Sept. 18

NEW YORK On Sunday, Sept. 18, the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum will be the site of the 23rd annual EcoFest, an environmental festival dedicated to eduating the public about practical solutions, products and practices through exhibits, environmental groups, inventions of environmental technologies and entertainment. The event was initially scheduled for Aug. 28 before being postponed to due to Hurricane Irene.

Highlights of the festival, which will run from 11:00am to 6:00pm, will include...

• SEOTO display: The display, which stands for "Sources of Energy Other Than Oil," will feature alternatvie fuel vehicles that are suitable for the city: hybrids, electric, biodiesel and ethanol as well as NYC fleet vehciles, hybrid taxis and the latest fuel cell vehicles.
  
  
• Eco-Fashion Show: The show will take place on a surface called "eco-ice," which reduces the maintenance cost and carbon footprint of traditional ice rinks. Eco-friendly clothing -- from outdoor wear to urban fashions -- will be modeled.
  
  
• Live entertainment: The festival's World Solar Stage will be rocking all day with performances by Al Smith of Blacksmith and the Great NY Tap-In, featuring the best tap dancers in New York. Plus, the Grammy-winning Rivertown Kids will perform with special guests, including Guy Davis.
  
  
• Children's activities: Younger festival goers will be able to enjoy the "recycling Olympics" and eco-magic by "The Amazing Ken."
