A walk from Lower Manhattan and across the Brooklyn Bridge Saturday all to raise awareness for the need to bridge the gap between low-income and wealthy New Yorkers.

More than 3,000 people took part in United Way of New York City's "Live United" walk.

The United Way says more than 1.6 million New Yorkers live below the poverty line which for a family of three means earning less $18,000 dollars a year.
