NY tow truck driver held in death of NJ woman

KEANSBURG, N.J.

Mary Macaluso had been on a first date in Sayreville when her date had car trouble. They called for a tow, and police say Dexter Jeanty, of Brooklyn, responded to the scene.

He reportedly dropped off Macaluso's date first, then drove north on Route 18 towards her home in Keansburg.

An off-duty police officer found Macaluso's body along the road Sunday morning.

The 21-year-old Jeanty is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and failing to call for help. He has pleaded not guilty.
