Bumper pads for cribs get thumbs down

Bumper pads for cribs are now getting the thumbs down from pediatricians.

According to updated guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics, bumper pads don't protect babies against sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS.

The AAP says bumper pads pose a potential risk of suffocation, strangulation or entrapment.

Previously, the group had only warned about certain "pillow-like" bumpers.
