NYC library president arrested on DWI charges

NEW YORK

Police say 52-year-old /*Anthony Marx*/ was arrested Sunday. He pleaded not guilty to aggravated driving while intoxicated at his arraignment Monday and released on his own recognizance. He's due back in court Dec. 9.

The New York Times says Marx's blood-alcohol level at the time of his arrest was tested at 0.19 percent, more than twice the legal limit. The paper says Marx released a statement through a library spokeswoman saying he deeply regrets the embarrassment caused to his family and the library.

Marx is the former president of Amherst College and a Bronx High School of Science graduate. He joined the library in July.
