Big cats get a big makeover

A cat, though long dead, has suffered the effects of time after spending 70 years inside a diorama at the American Museum of Natural History. "The lights have burned the pigments out of the fur. They're faded beyond what's acceptable," George Dante said.

Dante, a taxidermist and artist, is bringing her and others back to life. It's a year-long, 2 and a half million dollar project.

Some of the dioramas are already complete, the landscapes are freshly painted.

New, eco-friendly lighting won't fade the fur or yellow the snow, which is no longer being made of cotton.
