LIRR train delays on Babylon branch

COPIAGUE, N.Y.

The accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. just west of the Copiague train station. The women shouldn't have been on the tracks at that location. They were struck by an eastbound train that had no passengers.

Babylon Branch service was suspended in both directions as a result, but has since been restored. Eastbound trains were delayed up to 2 hours. All trains are now on or close to on schedule.
