Mass transit benefit expected to pass Senate this week

NEW YORK

Senator Charles Schumer made the announcment at one of New York City's commuter hubs, Penn Station.

He says the Federal Mass Transit benefit will pass retroactively this week.

It had expired on December 31.

The extension of this benefit still has to get through the House of Representatives and if it does, it could save commuters more than $1,000 a year on costs to ride the subways and buses, the LIRR, Metro-North.
