Historic home shopper rescued after fall thru porch

NEW YORK The accident happened on Richmond Terrace in the /*Randall Manor*/ section of /*Staten Island*/. It happened shortly before noon.

The 65-year-old woman fell about 10 feet through a rotted out section of the floor on the back porch.

She dropped into a basement or crawl space beneath the floor.

Since there is no staircase, firefighters had to stabilize the dirt and dig the woman out.

She was trapped in the hole for more than a half hour before she was rescued.

The woman was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in critical condition. She suffered a bad head injury.

The historic structure, called the Neville-Tysen House, was constructed sometime after 1776.

The house has been on market since last year, listed at $350,000. It has been previously described as being in "decrepit condition," and "not for the budget-minded or faint at heart."
