They are infuriated with school officials, claiming they failed to report the danger in the first place.
Angry parents now have a tough choice - whether or not to send their children to MS 577 in /*Williamsburg*/ or keep them at home. Officials say just more than a quarter of kids were absent Tuesday.
The packed meeting with school administrators did little to ease tensions.
The school is undergoing renovation for leaks, and last week, mold was found in one classroom and removed.
By Friday, seven more classrooms tested positive for mold. Many parents say they're going to keep their children home.
"I am leaving the same way I came in, the same way I came in last Sunday," one parent said after the meeting. "No answers, no resolution, they don't care. It's not their children in school. You know what, we're a bunch of minorities, they care less about what they're doing for our children."
Schools Chancellor /*Dennis Walcott*/ is rejecting parents calls to move the entire school to temporary quarters until the renovations are complete.
"The rooms are fine," he said. "We've indicated that to the school community, and we expect those students to be in the school."
Walcott went on to say that truancy rules will be enforced.
