Arrest made in Brooklyn dart attack

BENSONHURST

The boy is charged with second degree assault.

According to a law enforcement source, detectives conducted a thorough canvas of the area, knocked on the right door and the teen confessed. The incidents happened at Bay Parkway and 86th Street just before 7:20 p.m. on Sunday in the /*Bensonhurst*/ section.

Investigators say /*darts*/ struck a 66 year old man in the leg, a 51 year old man in the stomach, and a 40 year old man in the back of leg.

"The first time I didn't feel pain," Georgiy Ostrozhnyuk said.

The pain and bruising set in seconds after Ostrozhnyuk felt a burning sensation in his stomach. He was struck twice.

"The first time was in my thigh," he said.

His jeans stopped the dart from doing major damage to his leg, but you can see a blood stain from his stomach wound inside of his jacket. On Sunday, he was just sitting in his car on 86th Street when the darts started flying.

"It was very fast and we closed the windows," Ostrozhnyuk said.

One by one, he says darts were flying towards him. Around the same time, Arkadiy Shklyaver was walking down 86th Street. He saw Ostrozhnyuk and another man bleeding when he felt a burning in his side.

"It was long needle in my side," Shklyaver said.

Investigators returned to the intersection on Monday afternoon to retrieve some of the stray darts they believe were left behind from the random pedestrian assaults. Police say a total of three men were hit Sunday after 7:00 p.m.

The biggest concern for the victims is infection. They were given antibiotics and tetanus shots, and anti-virals for HIV and hepatitis.
