The 40-year-old victim was struck by a van at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Hawthorne Street in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens section just before midnight.
He was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.
Police say the driver tried to leave the scene, but struck a taxi. He then fled that crash on foot and was arrested a short time later.
