Escaped prisoner arrested in Gramercy Park

NEW YORK

A prisoner escaped police custody, jumped onto the train tracks and fled.

The escaped prisoner was later arrested at Lexington Avenue and East 22nd Street in /*Gramercy Park*/ at around 8:30 p.m. Friday.

He still had handcuffs on him. He was spotted by counter terrorism officers.

Police say he had been arrested for selling marijuana.

He was being transported to a police precinct when he somehow escaped custody on Christopher Street and fled into the subway station.

It's unclear how he got to Lexington and 22nd Street.
