Superman is quitting the news business, bailing out of the Daily Planet and, apparently, he is going to become a blogger.

In Issue 13 of Superman due out this week, the mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent quits the Daily Planet, which has served as his employer since the comic began in the 1940s. It's also becoming part of a multimedia corporation Galaxy Broadcasting.

New Superman writer Scott Lobdell tells the USA Today, "This is really what happens when a 27-year-old guy is behind a desk and he has to take instruction from a larger conglomerate with concerns that aren't really his own."

But Lobdell says Kent will continue to write about the stuff that matters to him, but do it in a different way.

"We're going to really see Clark come into his own in the next few years as far as being a guy who takes to the Internet and to the airwaves and starts speaking an unvarnished truth," he said.
