Electric trains resume on Long Beach LIRR branch

NEW YORK

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says the Metropolitan Transit Authority will resume electric service on Sunday.

It's the first time the railroad will operate on a close to normal schedule on all of its 11 branches since the storm hit.

Fewer trains than usual will be running on Monday during rush hour.

The governor says Amtrak is still repairing the signal system that was damaged by flooding in two East River tunnels during the storm.
