Woman killed after car plunges into Queens marsh

NEW YORK

The NYPD says there were six people riding in a Ford when the driver lost control and flipped into a small body of water on Brookville Boulevard in Meadowmere Park around 4:30 Sunday morning.

Jamison was taken to Jamaica Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver, 32-year-old Denise Finley has been charged with DWI, and driving without a license.

"The girl lost control – only one that didn't make it," said Lenay.

Hours earlier, Jamison was celebrating her uncle's 50th birthday party at a hall in Jamaica with family and friends. Afterwards, she met up with Finley and other friends.

The stylish 25-year-old wanted to be an actress, and was graduating as a Theater major from York College. She was also planning on getting her Masters. The young mother had the support of a very large family, all devastated by her tragic death.

"She really didn't get to live her life, and it's tearing me apart," said the victim's uncle, Darreld Curry.

Police were initially told there were six people inside the car, but drivers searched the icy water, and no one else was found.

First responders and good Samaritans formed a human chain to bring the people out of the submerged car and onto dry land.
