Lori Flynn, a teacher who organized the campaign at Queen of Peace High School in North Arlington, originally had just asked the girls to take the vow Friday morning, but then the school had an additional vow ceremony on Monday for the boys and any other girls who wanted to join in.
The school timed the initiative to Catholic Schools Week and the old-fashioned romance of Valentine's Day, promising lollipops as rewards and handing out pins showing a red slash through a pair of pink lips.
Chaz Papi proudly wore his new button as he left school Monday which symbolizes his vow not to use foul language for a month.
Meantime, student Rebecca Silver says she was forced to take the vow and won't abide by it.
The goal is apparently to get the students to act like young ladies and gentlemen again.
The school had no comment on their new vows and would not explain why they went with girls first on Friday.
