A major child porn sweep in New Jersey has ended with dozens of people under arrest.

The New Jersey Attorney General's Office and the New Jersey State Police announced the results of "Operation Ever Vigilant" during a news conference on Wednesday morning.

Investigators said the 25 people arrested were from different towns all over the state.

The suspects are not connected, investigators said, except for the fact they were sharing the same videos depicting child rape.

The victims in those videos were both boys and girls, ranging in age from toddlers to 10 years old, police said.

Some of the videos have been around for years, which police say continues to re-victimize the children.

"These videos show very young boys and girls being sexually molested, most by being subjected to acts of sexual penetration, or being coerced into performing sexual acts on others or themselves," said NJ Attorney General Jeffrey Chisea.

Officials say five of those arrested had direct contact with young children, including two who were regular baby sitters.

Most of the arrests were made during the week of February 18th following a three-month-long investigation.

Detectives from the State Police Digital Technology Investigation Unit surfed the web to track the suspects. Those suspects, not knowing they were dealing with police, allegedly agreed to share the child rape videos.

"Anyone who views or distributes child pornography, particularly the type of rape videos targeted in this operation, puts himself in league with the predators who sexually assault children to create the videos," Chisea said.

Each man is charged with second-degree distribution of child porn and fourth-degree possession of child porn.
