Bridgeport police launch effort to crack cold cases

It's been a long, difficult 13 months for Gloristine Thomas.

On New Year's day 2012 her son Greg was shot and killed. He collapsed and died at her feet on the steps of their home.

Thomas was walking back from a club with his girlfriend when words were exchanged with people in a car who opened fire.

The trail has gone cold and there have been no arrests.

So Bridgeport police are trying to jump start the investigation by appealing to the public in this and other cold cases.

The police department is launching the initiative because all those TV shows about DNA evidence and scientific clues. Most cases are cracked by information from the public.

Police stress that people can contact them anonymously with information about any investigation.
