Woman found stabbed multiple times in Brooklyn

NEW YORK

More than 16 hours after the murder, the shock was only beginning to set-in.

"Can you think of why someone would want to hurt her?" Eyewitness News asked.

"I don't' know, I would I want to know, myself," said Delores Green, a neighbor.

Detectives fanned-out across the neighborhood Friday morning questioning residents and searching for surveillance video that might capture the victim's final moment, or the killer dumping her body.

"The woman yesterday afternoon was found with multiple stab wounds. Initially when detectives responded they thought it might have been a heart attack, but an examination by EMS identified multiple stab wounds," Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

Neighbors identified the woman as a second-floor resident of this building on St. John's Place where the superintendent said she lived a solitary, eccentric life.

Neighbors told Eyewitness News they saw her walking away from her apartment yesterday afternoon.

It was not long before her body would be found with multiple stab wounds at the bottom of a staircase several blocks from her apartment.

"I saw her across the street, I don't know where she was going, she had a big bag on her shoulder. I don't know, I don't know why someone would kill her," Green said.
