Police say 29-year-old Anthony Manco is charged with attempted murder, assault with weapon and criminal possession of a weapon.
The victim, 56-year-old construction foreman Louis Lamburini, was shot in the chest on West 49th Street and Ninth Avenue in Hell's Kitchen around 9 a.m. Monday. He is expected to survive.
The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear.
Police were questioning another man in connection with the shooting, but that person has not yet been charged.
