Long Island man charged in screwdriver attack

ROOSEVELT

The incident happened just before noon Tuesday on Cumberland Avenue in Roosevelt.

Officers say 37-year-old Christopher Williams got into a fight with a man over money.

That's when he allegedly took a screwdriver and slashed the man in the neck.

The 50-year-old victim then turned over an unknown amount of cash and some clothing.

Williams reportedly fled the scene and was taken into custody a short time later.

The stolen items were recovered, along with the screwdriver.

The victim refused medical attention at the scene. He is expected to be okay.

Williams is being charged with robbery and possession of a weapon.
