Man uses blog to document drive-by shooting recovery

NEW YORK

The young man was an innocent bystander and victim of a drive-by shooting.

Now he's documenting his recovery and pushing for gun control.

Antonius Wiriadjaja's nephews made him a cane littered with stickers of cupcakes and cartoon characters and get well wishes.

"I felt incredible pain on my shoulders, bleeding from my chest, like here," Wiriadjaja said.

Cell phone video shows the 29-year-old clutching his abdomen seconds after he was struck by a stray bullet in a drive-by shooting last month in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Anger was channeled into tragedy turned crusade for gun control. Wiriadjaja started the blog, "How I Survived a Gunshot to the Gut". The writing is therapeutic for him because TV and music triggered Post Traumatic Stress.

Wiriadjaja believes at the very least there should be a national gun registry to keep track of all the guns that are sold. His shooter is still at large.

In one post, he wrote, "30 days since the shooting. I now weigh as much as I did when I was 15."

There are pictures taken throughout his six week recovery, he even posts his $112,000 medical bill paid for by taxpayers, it's an in your face plea for stricter gun laws.
