Police say Joseph Santiago was walking on Ridgeway Avenue around 1:20 a.m. on August 23 when he was struck by a westbound white vehicle that fled the scene.
Police think the vehicle has front-end damage on the passenger side and the undercarriage.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
The investigation is continuing.
