2 charged with drug possession in Turnpike police chase, crash

CRANBURY, N.J.

Troopers attempted to stop the tractor trailer for an truck inspection, but the rig refused to stop and continued south on the Turnpike.

At some point, the driver tried to cross into unused expansion project area, where it struck a state police cruiser and came to a stop.

The two men were taken into custody.

Distribution quantities of heroin and methamphetamines were found inside the cab. A hand gun was also recovered.

The two men were charged with drug possession and weapons possession. They are being held at the Middlesex County Jail.

One of the troopers sustained a minor injury during the arrest.
