Long Island man charged with shooting wife in domestic dispute

A Long Island man is under arrest after police say he shot and critically wounded his wife during a domestic dispute Saturday afternoon.

According to detectives, 36-year old Brian Martin of Roosevelt shot his wife, 39, causing several injuries and fractures to her face area.

She was taken to an area hospital, where she is listed in critical but stable condition.

Both the suspect and victim in this shooting work for the NYC Department of Correction. He is a Captain; she is an officer. Both work at Rikers Island.

Martin was arrested at the home on William Street without incident and charged with assault and criminal use of a firearm.

Police say the gun was recovered at the scene.
