Glen Cove senior living facility residents forced out of their rooms after broken pipe

GLEN COVE

Fire officials say cold weather caused two sprinkler pipes to rupture at the Sunrise Senior Living Community in Glen Cove around 6:30 Sunday evening.

Residents from ten rooms were moved to the lobby due to the flood.

The building did not have to be evacuated.

Nassau County Emergency officials say several agencies are helping the senior home managers respond to the situation.

Paramedics were also on hand to transport people or provide emergency aid, but no one was injured.
