Oheka Castle owner released from hospital

HUNTINGTON, New York

North Shore University Hospital spokeswoman Michelle Pinto says Gary Melius was released on Tuesday.

Melius's spokesman said he had eye surgery on Saturday. His attorney did not immediately comment.

Melius was shot in the parking lot of Oheka (oh-HEE'-kah) Castle in Huntington. Melius owns the landmark catering facility and also lives there.

He has donated hundreds of thousands to political candidates and is also known for his charitable works.

Police have released few details about the shooting. They say the assailant was wearing a mask.

A police spokeswoman said Tuesday she had no updates on the investigation.
