At about 9:30 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Park Avenue where the woman's body was found near an apartment building.
She has not yet been identified.
The cause of death is pending an autopsy, but the case is being investigated as a homicide by the East Orange police and the Essex County Prosecutor's office.
