The accident happened at about 2 p.m. at a site at the Dream New York hotel at 210 W. 55th St.
The man fell from the eighth floor of the hotel.
Officials from the Buildings Department and the New York City Police Department responded to the scene to investigate.
The identity of the victim, a man in his 40's, has not yet been released.The man fell on a landing that goes around the entire building that sits just above the awning.
