Fire damages Art Garfunkel's Upper East Side apartment

UPPER EAST SIDE (WABC) -- There is extensive fire damage at a penthouse apartment on the Upper East Side owned by legendary singer Art Garfunkel.

The fire started Thursday morning in the insulation of the 15th floor apartment on East 79th Street.

Officials say Garfunkel was not home.

Firefighters were forced to stretch a hose to the apartment because the stand pipe was frozen.

No one was seriously hurt.
