NEW YORK (WABC) -- A 33-year-old woman gave birth to a baby girl aboard a flight from Jordan to New York, according to airport officials.
The incident took place on Royal Jordanian Flight J261 on Tuesday around 5 p.m.
A spokesman for the Port Authority said a nurse and doctor on board helped deliver the 6 pound, 5 ounce baby. Joe Pentangelo said the plane landed at John F. Kennedy airport 7:30 p.m. and the mother and child were both taken to a nearby hospital.
Both the mother and child appeared to be in good health.
The mother is a citizen of Jordan and was traveling to New York unaccompanied.
