Online auction for Knight Rider car restarted

GREENWICH, Conn. - Greenwich attorney Patrick Gil, who has handled the dismantling of Kissel's estate, began selling the Trans Am on EBay Thursday with bidding starting at $20,000.

Gil had put the car up for auction last year but then removed it after he started getting calls from all over the world questioning its authenticity. Gil did more research and said Thursday it is one of the handful of KITT cars used on the show.

Kissel bought the car from an auction house in May 2005 for $69,000, but never took possession of it. Part of the agreement when he bought it was that Kissel would allow the car to be used in an Adam Sandler movie called "The Benchwarmer."

State prosecutors said Wednesday that Kissel's slaying was a murder for hire as they upgraded the charges against one of two suspects to capital felony.

Based on that theory, authorities added a new capital felony charge against 21-year-old Leonard Trujillo of Worcester, Mass., who was already charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Carlos Trujillo, 47, of Bridgeport, is charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the stabbing death of Kissel at his Greenwich mansion in 2006.

The two cousins maintain their innocence.
