A vehicle reportedly crashed into a pole on Broadway, near Hilton Street, sometime after 3 a.m. this morning. The crash, at a high rate of speed, trapped at least one occupant inside.
Following extended extrication, two men were flown by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital. Officials say they were described as in extremely critical condition.
Two vehicles were believed to be involved in the crash, and police believe they were traveling at a high rate of speed. A large number of local streets were closed in the residential neighborhood.
