Teen charged in skateboard stabbing

QUEENS The family of Hanif Hakim says he was skateboarding last week when he accidentally bumped into a 12-year-old boy in Jamaica.

They say a fight escalated between Hakim and the boy's family on Thursday, and Hakim was stabbed in the chest.

Hakim was an 11th grader at Andrew Jackson High School in Cambria heights. Eyewitness News spoke with a teacher who said Hakim had "panache." He was reportedly a special education student who had worked hard to make his way back to regular classes.

Police later arrested 16-year-old Rolando Nevarez in the incident. He is charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
