NEWARK With the death of the child, the investigation into Tuesday night's deadly crash escalates, and so too may the charges against two suspected car thieves now in custody.

The boy's mother was also critically injured.

The chase started in East Orange where police spotted the stolen Acura and the stolen BMW. The chase stopped at the Newark/East Orange border.

The vehicles kept going at a high rate of speed before crashing on Orange Street.

Witnesses say it was horrible. The mother, 30-year-old Joselin Breton was critically injured in the car. Her son, 10-year-old Anevdy Breton, was ejected from the car.
