Brooklyn fire damages 4 buildings

BROOKLYN Investigators said the fire started in the rear 1st floor of 1480 Flatbush Avenue just after 6:00 p.m.

The fire quickly spread to the second and third floors, and then spread to adjacent buildings.

Fourteen firefighters suffered minor injuries trying to get the fire under control.

Businesses and apartments located in the four buildings sustained significant damage.

Residents of six apartments evacuated. The Red Cross is assisting some of them in finding shelter. Others are getting help on their own.
