Shot little leaguer leaves hospital

BROOKLYN Mom Andrea Walters says Devonte Kelly's head is wrapped in a bandage, but he is doing very well.

A CAT scan showed that the bullet did no damage to his brain. In fact, he was awake through the whole ordeal and, at first, no one knew he had been hit by a bullet.

"All of a sudden, he screamed," Walters said.

Kelly was getting ready to take his little league team picture when he grabbed his head and started crying. Everyone assumed it was a baseball hit him. An ambulance rushed the boy to Brookdale Hospital, where a CAT scan showed a bullet lodged between his skin and skull.

Doctors removed the bullet.

It's still not known who fired the shot.

Police were looking into whether the bullet was fired from afar and possibly ricocheted off the bleachers.
