Family members charged with child neglect

MASTIC BEACH Suffolk County police said the Mastic Beach house had no running water, heat or hot water, and animal feces littered the floors.

They said rotting food was in the refrigerator and soda bottles filled with urine were in the halls.

The children ranged in age from 2 to 13. They were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.

The five adult family members, arrested Thursday, faced charges of endangering the welfare of a child.
