That's when the driver took off and the chase began.
At one point during the chase, police say, the perp rammed his car into an officer's patrol car.
Another officer was able to spin the driver's car and get him to stop.
The 18-year-old got out and tried to flee on foot, but he was quickly apprehended.
He was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital with facial trauma.
Meanwhile, the two officers were treated for head, neck and leg injuries at Stonybrook University Hospital.
