Police say the man was walking on Cayler Street between McGuinness Boulevard and Newel Street in Greenpoint when he was hit.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he remained in critical condition.
Investigators do not yet have a description of the vehicle, which police said fled east on Cayler Street.
