Brooklyn gun buyback nets 287 guns

BROOKLYN Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes lauded Saturday's gun buyback as a success. He says officials hauled in 170 handguns, 40 assault weapons, 30 shotguns, 37 rifles and 46 BB guns.

Of the handguns, 115 were revolvers and 55 were semiautomatics.

People who turned in up to three workable handguns or assault weapons got a $200 bank card for each weapon, no questions asked.

Rifles and shotguns earned a $100 bank card.
