Water main break buckles Route 17 in NJ

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS The main broke some 100 yards south of Franklin Avenue just before 4:30 a.m.

Water quickly flooded the highway.

United Water workers capped the main just before 5:30 a.m., but the road buckled, leaving some of the southbound lanes unusable.

All southbound lanes had been closed, but one lane reopened just before 7 a.m. Traffic was being diverted off at Henry Street.
