Metro-North trains resume after suspicious package

NEW YORK

The railroad says the police investigation centered around its Irvington station, in Westchester County.

Railroad spokesman Dan Brucker says police halted train traffic after an engineer spotted the package around 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Brucker estimated that two hours later, "well over 10,000" customers were either stuck on trains, or could not get train service.
