The 16-year-old driver, Erik Hakimisefat, will now stand trial as an adult. He facies charges of criminally negligent homicide, reckless driving, speeding and operating a motor vehicle out of class.
Sarah Erdan, 13, died Sunday when the young man crashed the van into a home on East 23rd Street shortly before 2 p.m. Another 16-year-old passenger was also injured.
Police say he was going twice the speed limit.
