Arrest in Midtown salon murder

NEW YORK Police captured Michael Kenny in Anne Arundel County on Friday afternoon. He was being held there pending extradition back to Manhatten.

The deadly confrontation happened around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at 161 West 35th Street near 7th Avenue.

Kenny, 42, allegedly stabbed his estranged wife, Denise, to death.

Investigators say Kenny showed up at her job at D'Galinas Center Salon, got into an argument, and then attacked the 41-year old hair stylist.

He allegedly grabbed cash from the store's register and took off running from the bloody salon on west 35th Street near Seven Avenue in Midtown.

"I just went into there yesterday to get a hair cut. It's tragic. I see her every single morning. I see her every morning because I work next door," Ryan Colby said.

Paramedics rushed Kenny to Bellevue Hospital where she died.

Michael James was on his way to get a hair cut with her when he was confronted by police tape and swarms of investigators.

"She was a really sweet girl. The most wonderful person. I would come in from Philadelphia every other week. She would put highlights in it. She was a wonderful person. This is unbelievable," James said.
