Man dies in Conn. police custody after Taser used

WATERBURY, Conn.

Police say the man, whose name has not been released, was creating a disturbance in the lobby of St. Mary's Hospital early Sunday morning. Police arrested the man and placed him in the back of a cruiser.

Police said the man continued to be combative and the Taser was used. The man became unresponsive, police said, and attempts were made to revive him. He died soon after at the hospital.

A Waterbury police spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking more information.

State police and state attorney's office are reviewing the incident.
