'Rent is too damn high' candidate facing eviction

NEW YORK

Jimmy McMillan, the former candidate for governor who ran on a rent-reducing platform, now claims he's getting pushed out because the landlord wants to charge more for his rent-stabilized unit in the East Village.

The building's owner says McMillan's son lives there, and McMillan actually lives in Brooklyn.

McMillan has had the apartment since 1977.

The case is pending in housing court.
