Breastfeeding mothers rally at Target

CARY, N.C.

The mothers came out to sit and nurse their babies in public. They joined other mothers around the country who decided to do the same after a Texas mother said she was hassled by Target employees while she tried to breastfeed her 5-month-old baby.

"It seems like it's prejudice against women who are nursing because I can bottle feed anywhere," said Cary resident Erika Gebhardt. "But, just because I happen to be showing my breast or having my breast out even if I'm not showing it, I'm supposed to go someplace else? That doesn't seem right to me."

None of the local moms we talked to reported ever having any problems nursing their children at Target. They just wanted to raise awareness about the rights of nursing moms.

Meanwhile, Target released a statement, saying in part, "Target is proud to support all mothers who breastfeed year-round, including today.
